Born in Philadelphia, raised in New Jersey, Simon is an oil painter whose creative adventures seek to balance the opposing world views and styles of Rembrandt and Paul Cezanne. He has a BFA from Philadelphia College of Art and an MFA from Ohio University. After serving as a Headquarters illustrator in the US Air Force, he returned to Philadelphia for an additional four years of studio training at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts.
As an Art Director for the University of Pennsylvania and the American Legion, he has won awards of excellence, alumni magazine of the year, and gold neo-graphic awards. He has taught painting, color and design, and life drawing at Ohio University, Herron School of Art, and the University of Indianapolis, and has exhibited at the American College, Siegfried Gallery, and Cresson Exhibitions. He believes that art is when self-expression meets self-realization.
