In 2009 I took a trip through Kruger National Park in South Africa with a group of friends. I was amazed by the animals I was able to capture with my point-and-shoot camera but envied the quality and detailed photographs others in my group captured with their digital cameras and long lenses. When I returned home, I purchased a digital camera and lenses of my own and began teaching myself the finer points of photography.
Following a 30-year engineering career, I started a small business taking real estate photographs to provide virtual tours of properties being sold. I've since retired but remain passionate about photography, now choosing to capture and share images of the beauty I encounter along the way. My camera travels with me everywhere my wife and I travel, and I delight in capturing the play of light, shadows, and patterns that occur in nature. I believe that photography is not just about capturing a moment, but about telling a story. I strive to create images that evoke emotion and capture the essence of life through my photography.
