A LEGACY IN THE MAKING: THE GUILD GALLERY

After more than five decades of supporting and elevating professional artists, the Art Guild of Orange Park (AGOP) is proud to announce the opening of its long-awaited public art gallery at 440 McIntosh Street, Orange Park, housed in the historic T.C. Miller School building (Theresa Miller).
AGOP is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit membership organization composed of 106 active members. Professional artists and has served the Northeast Florida arts community since 1973. The dream of establishing a permanent gallery space has been at the forefront of the Guild’s goals for many years. That vision is now realized in a location rich with cultural and historical significance. The gallery offers a diverse selection of artwork for sale, including award-winning paintings, pottery, jewelry, and other fine art. Many of the paintings on display have received recognition at venues throughout Northeast Florida, reflecting the high caliber of AGOP’s professional artists.

In addition to rotating exhibitions and fine art sales, the gallery includes a museum-style historical component that preserves and honors both the Guild’s legacy and the building’s past. Built in 1938, the structure originally served as a segregated elementary school for Black children in Orange Park. It was named after Theresa Miller, a dedicated educator who served Clay County for more than 40 years. In recognition of its cultural and historical importance, the building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1998.

By transforming this historic site into a public art gallery, AGOP honors the building’s educational roots while creating a new space for artistic expression, community engagement, and cultural preservation.

Our Story

Our story began with a vision to revolutionize the creative landscape. Over the years, we have honed our craft and built a legacy of excellence. We are committed to pushing boundaries, setting new standards, and inspiring others to join us on this incredible journey. In 2021 The Town of Orange Park developed a $256,000 grant for restoration work at the TC Miller Center. The building was a 1938 Black School house and is currently a neighbor community center with basketball courts, bathrooms, picnic tables, and a small parking lot. The classroom section of the building is rented by the town and includes a kitchen, but the auditorium section was used mostly as storage. In 2022 The restoration work was started and included painting, repairs, lights, bathroom improvements, window pane replacement, railing and steps to the stage, and new blinds. August 2025 A concept paper, for the use of the auditorium as an art gallery, was developed. With board approval, the concept for an Art Gallery and Art Museum in the TC Miller auditorium and stage, along with a power point presentation, was presented to the town recreation committee. A planning committee was formed, composed of prior art gallery owners, to discuss plans for the gallery. The committee relied on experience as well as research and visits to art galleries in Fernandina Beach, Ponte Vedra, Jacksonville, Gainesville, St Petersburg, etc. The committee researched equipment and supply needs, fees, operation, things that work well and what to avoid, etc. The research and ideas were comprehensive and intensive – a lot of behind-the-scenes work was conducted to ensure a well-run gallery. November 2025 Construction was completed. A security system was installed. The Art Guild received the lease agreement and keys to the gallery space. The Art Guilds official address was changed to 440 McIntosh Avenue, Orange Park 32073
